(Doctor, I bring the boy because three days ago he began to have nasal congestion and now his breathing is agitated. [Literally, "and now he is breathing very agitated."] He is coughing, and he has fever.) Note: Technically, the word "agitado" is an adjective, here used colloquially in place of an adverb.
Doctora: ¿De cuánto ha sido la fiebre? ¿Y cómo es la tos?
(How high was his temperature? [Literally, "How much has been the fever?"] And how is the cough?)
Mamá: La fiebre fue de 102. La tos es cada vez más frecuente, y se pone peor en las noches.
(The fever was 102. The cough is more and more frequent, and it becomes worse in the nights.) Note: Observe the translation of the phrase "cada vez más."
Doctora: Déjeme examinarle. Tiene ruidos como silbidos en ambos pulmones. ¿Cuándo empezó eso?
(Let me examine him. He has noises like wheezing in both lungs. When did that begin?)
Mamá: Anoche empezó con esos ruidos.
(Last night he began with those noises.)
Doctora: Todos estos síntomas probablamente son debidos a una inflamación de las vías respiratorias, llamada bronquiolitis.
(All those symptoms are probably due to an inflammation of the airways called bronchiolitis.)
