52. Olga tiene fatiga. (Olga has fatigue.)
Olga: Doctora, hace como una semana tenía dolor de garganta y me dolía para tragar cuando comía, pero ahora todo es peor.
(Doctor, about a week ago I was having a sore throat and it hurt to swallow when I was eating, but now everything is worse.)
Doctora: ¿Cómo que peor?
(How is it worse?) Note: Literally, it says "How that worse?"
Olga: Ahora tengo fiebre, casi no tengo voz, y me siento muy cansada. Además, tengo pequeños nódulos aquí en el cuello.
(Now I have fever, almost I have no voice, and I feel very tired. Furthermore, I have small nodules here in the neck.)
Doctora: Déjame examinarte. Aprieta mis manos fuertemente.
(Let me examine you. Squeeze my hands hard.)
Olga: Sólo puedo apretar un poco. Siento los músculos débiles. Me fatigo con facilidad.
(I can only squeeze a little. I feel weakness in the muscles. I fatigue easily.) Note: Literally, it says "I feel the muscles weak."
Doctora: Te voy a pedir una muestra de sangre, para ver si hay virus de Epstein Barr, y un ultrasonido abdominal para evaluar el bazo.
(I am going to request a blood sample, to see if there is Epstein Barr virus, and an abdominal ultrasound to evaluate the spleen.)
Olga: ¿Qué es lo que Ud. cree que tengo, doctora?
(What is it that you believe that I have, doctor?)
Doctora: Pareces tener el bazo un poco aumentado de tamaño, y con los síntomas que tienes, podría ser una enfermedad llamada mononucleosis infecciosa.
(You seem to have the spleen a bit enlarged, and with the symptoms that you have, it could be an illness called infectious mononucleosis.)
Olga: ¿Y es contagiosa?
(And is it contagious?)
Doctora: Sí. ¿Conoces a alguien que esté teniendo síntomas similares?
(Yes. Do you know someone that is having similar symptoms?)
Olga: Sí, mi novio empezó con estos mismos síntomas un poco antes que yo. ¿Ud. cree que él me puede haber contagiado?
(Yes, my boyfriend began with those same symptoms a little before I did. Do you believe that he may have infected me?)
Doctora: Sí. Después que tengamos tu diagnóstico definitivo, tendrás que decirle que venga para evaluación y para hacerle pruebas de laboratorio.
(Yes. After we have your definitive diagnosis, you will have to tell him to come for evaluation and testing.) Note: Literally, it says, "tell him that he come for evaluation and to do to him tests of laboratory."
