Saying the Time
12:00 Midnight; 12:27 am: Medianoche; Doce y veintisiete de la mañana
1:30 am: Una y treinta de la mañana or Una y media de la mañana
12:00 Noon; 12:19 pm: Mediodía; Doce y diecenueve de la tarde
4:45 pm: Cuatro y cuarenta y cinco de la tarde or Un cuarto para las cinco de la tarde
5:05 pm; 8:52 pm: Cinco y cinco de la tarde; Ocho y Cincuenta y dos de la noche
9:15 pm: Nueve y quince de la noche or Nueve y cuarto de la noche
What time is it?: ¿Qué hora es?
It is 1:10 pm: Es la una y diez de la tarde.
Note: Observe that, except for the time between 1:00 and 1:59, the hour is stated in plural form.
It is 2:00 pm: Son las dos de la tarde.
At what time does it begin?: ¿A qué hora empieza?
At nine o'clock sharp: A las nueve en punto.
Phrases of Time
At a quarter after five; Tomorrow afternoon; The day after tomorrow: A las cinco y cuarto; Mañana en la tarde; Pasado mañana
Next week; The coming week: La semana próxima; La semana entrante or La semana que viene
Next month; The coming month: El próximo mes; El mes entrante or El mes que viene
Within two weeks: Dentro de dos semanas
Yesterday; The day before yesterday: Ayer; Anteayer
At noon (or midday); In the afternoon: Al mediodía; En la tarde
Very soon; As soon as possible; Later: Muy pronto; Lo más pronto posible; Más tarde
It is still early; It is late: Es temprano todavía; Es tarde
