More About Accent Marks
Sometimes accent marks not only indicate emphasis, but also a completely different word and meaning.
For example, review following sentences:
Stress on the first word: Sí, eso es cierto. (Yes, that is certain/true.)
Different meaning and stress: Si eso es cierto, no voy. (If that is certain/true, I do not go.)
Stress on the first word: Tú puedes. (You can.)
Different meaning and stress: Tu hermano puede. (Your brother can.)
